Maroof’s passion towards sports evolved right from his childhood when he used to play cricket for his school and college. From playing for his school and college to turning out for his club team (affiliated to Mumbai Cricket Association), Maroof has come a long way by transforming his passion towards the game into a professional pursuit.
As a student he had been involved in organising and managing various sports events as a member of the core working committee of the Dr. D.Y. Patil Stadium, for the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 and other Corporate tournaments.
Maroof has also worked for Sahara India Pariwar (Sahara Sports) mainly for franchise operations of the now defunct IPL side Pune Warriors India and UP Wizards side in the Hockey India League and other sports activities.
He was also involved with Sahara India as Assistant Manager specialising venue operations and cricket operations.
Before his stint with Sahara India, he worked for three years for Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy (Stadium) as a Venue Manager / Marking Executive.
His role included taking charge of the entire venue including for other sports like Tennis, Swimming, Badminton, Squash, Basketball, Gymnasium etc.
His main role at the DY Patil Stadium was to overlook all the facilities and coordinate all the day to day administration, as well as operations of the entire sports stadium.
He also took charge of the marketing side of the venue and managed the corporate sports team of DY Patil. Also during an event like IPL, his main role was that of an event/venue manager to co-ordinate all the work as bridge between all the entities working at the venue.
Currently, Maroof is the Cricket Operations Manager of Masters Champions League (MCL) which is set to be held in UAE in January 2016
