All about IISM Admission Process

Sports Management in India is a sunrise sector. The landmark events of 2008 in Indian sports- the advent of Indian Premier League and Abhinav Bindra’s Gold medal at Olympics, opened gates for Sports Management to evolve in the sports sector. The emergence of other sporting leagues like Pro Kabaddi League, Indian Super League, Pro Badminton League, etc. lead to a demand for skilled Sports Management professionals.

International Institute of Sports Management, established with an aim to prepare Sports Management heroes, was the need of the hour. IISM follows a Holistic Admission Process in order to admit students in the programs that it offers. This well-designed admission process legitimates the institute to assess an aspirant on various grounds giving him/her a fair opportunity to showcase his/her competence. Through this we intend to select students who have the right potential to make a mark in the Sports Management Industry. Therefore, in accordance with the admissions guidelines, an aspirant is necessitated to go through two stages to be securing an admission at IISM.

About SMAT:
SMAT – Sports Management Admission Test is an online entrance test to apply for admission at IISM.

The test is specially designed to cater to a very specific domain – i.e. sports management. The test focuses on candidate’s liking & awareness towards the sports industry & their acumen for the business side of sports.

Through this test, candidates shall be tested on their aptitude in Mathematics and English, with an emphasis on their interest and knowledge about the sporting ecosystem.

About Caselets:

Caselets solving is a part of Stage 1 of IISM’s Admission process.

The Caselets are designed to extract and evaluate the best of knowledge of the aspirant. It consists of cases—that will give a fair idea on how aspirants think, their outlook towards circumstances, knowledge on current affairs and proficiency in Plan of Action making.

Through Caselets, we intend to estimate how would aspirants react to or take an action on situations that he’d face in the rapidly evolving Sports Management sector. The test is specially designed for the students from any educational and geographical background, who have keen interest in sports and have desire to make a career in sports management. This exam is conducted online & candidates will have to come at the allotted test center to appear for the test.

Admission Process

Stage 1:

The Stage 1 of the admission process comprises a total score of 180. This score comprises of two components: 80 for SMAT and 100 for Case lets and Overall Performance. 

Note:

Aspirants would be assessed on the basis of Overall Performance including academic scores, sports achievements & extra-curricular activities.

One has to score 50% in Stage 1 in order to be qualified for Stage 2

The student can re-apply for SMAT in case they are unable to clear the stage 1

Students applying for Master of Sports Management & Post Graduate Program in Sports & Wellness Management, can also apply from MAH-MBA MMS CET scores.

Stage 2:

Once, the aspirants secure a minimum of 50% in the first stage of the admission process, the shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for the Panel Interaction round that holds a weightage of 120 marks.

Note: An aspirant is expected to score minimum 60% of cumulative of Stage 1 & Stage 2 in order to get qualified for the final admission and letter of selection from the Institute.
